Tusshar returns
After winning the Best Actor in a Comic Role award, Tusshar Kapoor is all gung-ho about his forthcoming projects.
He is still to get into the big league, but that isnt stopping Tusshar Kapoor from trying out different roles. Be it Khakee, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Golmaal or Golmaal Returns (for which he incidentally won an award for Best Actor in a Comic Role) it just endorses the fact that he may not be a charismatic star, but he has some indelible performances to his credit.
How does it feel having won the award? It feels superb.
1x1 polls
When I signed the film, I didnt know whether it would work out as I had to play a comic role without dialogues, says he. He attended a three-week rostrum workshop to perfect voice modulation, expression and body language for the role.
He talks about his upcoming movie Life Partner, where he plays a mustachioed Gujarati named Bhavesh. Talking about the film, he says, My character is an Indian from South Africa brought up with traditional values. He wants to go for arranged marriage. But, he undergoes many conflicts and has to make some tough choices. Does it bear any resemblance to his real life? No. For me its either love marriage or no marriage, pat comes the reply.
Does he feel he has been typecast? As long as the movie does well and people like me, I dont care about the role. I look at the entire package. My role in Golmaal Returns was different from the one in D Company, which again was different from One Two Three. The actor feels one has to be careful about signing a film.
So, what are the key ingredients while playing a comic role? One has to keep up the energy, and at the same time, avoid going over-the-top. Timing plays an important role too. Whats his dream role? Whatever role I play, is a dream role. Sometimes the dream is fulfilled, and sometimes it crashes, he chuckles.
Tusshar is also acting in Neeraj Voras Run Bhola Run along with Govinda. He is also busy with the third instalment of Golmaal and the sequel to Kyaa Kool Hai Hum. When asked whether KKHH 2 will toe the same line as the first, he says, We will tone it down a bit so that one can watch it along with family. But, its going to be a sex comedy. The audience sure is waiting for his next comic turn.
